This sketch of a detail of a church window at Rockcliffe in north Cumbria was made on a very cold day, which is the reason why it stops where it does.
One benefit of having to look carefully at such subjects in order to draw them, is that it impresses upon one the ingenuity, skill, taste and perseverance of the craftsmen who made such artefacts. They give a great example of getting one’s priorities right.
